MC restaurant was very good.
Location is excellent. The building and architecture is very handsome. The downstairs bar area is very nicely done. The bar grill was overall not bad and reasonably priced. The bed was very comfortable. The continental breakfast was very nice.
The superior room wasn't, in my opinion, superior and based upon what we paid didn't provide good value. Bathroom luxuries were a bar of soap / shower gel.
The staff very friendly, informative and helpful and the room spacious, clean and comfortable. The design of the room is excellent and the location perfect for Manchester city centre.
The hotel is excellently placed for Picaddily Station and the town centre. The Manchester City Stadium is walkable, and for those who are willing to step out a little further you can reach Castlefield and the Science Museum. The bed was vast, comfortable and warm, and, despite having a road facing room, the windows (closed) reduced traffic and late night drunken reveller noise to a tolerable level. (Mind you, it was a Tuesday night).
A small point but an irritation. I am only a youngster of 53, but in all my life until this stay, taps have all worked in the same direction whatever the design or country. Here the cold basin tap (only) works the opposite way to evry other tap I have ever used. This means that every time you turn it off, you actually turn it on fully. It is a bit like driving for 35 years, and then setting off in a car where the brake and accelerator are reversed. Luckily, the basin contains the, sudden flow, unlike some designs, which would fire the fast flowing water down the front of your trousers. The tap designer must be an over artistic lunatic!
Location and unique design of the building
the meal at michael Caines restaurant excellent
Excellent value rate at the hotel & excellent meal in Micheal Caine restaurant
Some of the staff were unaccomodating
The staff are very helpful and approachable and the rooms were comfortable
The Abode is a lovely hotel staff need a lot of improving sometimes make you feel like they are doing you a favour by letting you stay especially the reception staff a smile would not hurt - occasionally!!!!
The reception staff not helpful whatsoever
The staff were extremely welcoming and could not do enough for us during our stay, The rooms ( as I booked 2 as there were 4 of us staying )were both equally excellent in cleanliness and comfort. I would definitely recommend people to stay here and I would here again myself
Very good location. Staff very friendly and helpful. Interesting building and loft style rooms which a little minimum but large & comfortable. Will definitely stay there again and try restaurant next time which has excellent reputation.
Could have done with a desk light and another soft room light otherwise all really good.
As an hotel it has a feeling of difference and staff are always welcoming.
To park ones car overnight in the NCP car park is inordinately expensive. The menu in the MC restaurant a little limited and eating in the other restaurant is too much like eating and drinking in a waiting room.
Stunning building with original features, well appointed and very comfortable bed
bar staff over familiar yet rude at times
We received the warmed of welcomes and were upgraded to a fabulous suite. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble and my daughter, who is at Manchester University, and I had a really wonderful stay. The food in Michael Caines was truly outstanding and in a league of its own at a very competitive price. The food in the hotel restaurant was also delicious. Superb service prevailed throughout and we will most definitely be back !!
An ipod dock in the room would have been nice.
The staff were very welcoming and cheerful, and extremely helpful. The room was AMAZING - we were upgraded and staying in the lovely Winston Suite. Breakfast was delicious. The other guests were discrete and friendly. The hotel was quiet, without being oppressive I am staying again in 10 days time for my next business trip. My company does not cover the entire cost but it is worth topping up the allocation to stay in the Abode.
